Obituaries: Steven James Parson

Steven James Parson, 41, of Hillsboro, formerly of Seaside, died Friday, June 26, 2009, at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland.
He was born Jan. 16, 1968, in Hillsboro, to Peter and Shirley (McEntee) Parson. His parents survive, residing in Hillsboro.
When he was 10 years old, the family moved to the Oregon Coast. He graduated from Seaside High School in 1986.
In 2000, he married Sarah Tompkins of Spokane, Wash. The couple divorced in 2006. Following the marriage, they lived in Moscow, Idaho.
Following high school, Mr. Parson began a long and varied career in construction. He was a master carpenter. He also sold cars for Bruce Chevrolet in Hillsboro. He moved to Hillsboro in 2007.
Family members said he loved to surf. He enjoyed warm climates, living for a time in Florida and Hawaii. He also had a passion for collecting and restoring old cars.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by four siblings and their spouses, Patty Downing of Riddle, Gerry and Kim Parson of Beaverton, Lisa and John Allen of Gearhart and Suzanne and Lou Weinberg of Draper, Utah; and 10 nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Forest View Cemetery, 1161 W. Pacific Ave. in Forest Grove.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
