GARIBALDI – The local U.S. Coast Guard found a missing 7-year-old boy at Bayocean Peninsula near Garibaldi Monday.
The Coast Guard spokesman said the boy and his family were walking on trails on the north side of the peninsula on Monday afternoon when they were separated.
At 1 p.m., Air Station Astoria got a call from the Tillamook Sheriff’s Office, requesting assistance to locate the boy. An MH-60 helicopter crew launched and conducted the search of the area.
The boy was spotted by the helicopter crew and they landed, four miles from where the boy had last been seen. The Tillamook Sherriff’s Office Search and Rescue then arrived at the scene to take the boy back to his family using an all-terrain vehicle. He was not hurt.
