The Butler Did It Antiques, located in Cannon Beach at 124 N. Hemlock St., recently expanded by opening a second location just a few blocks away at 240 N. Hemlock.

The move was not spurred as much by the need for a second location, but from seeing a good deal and taking advantage of it.
“The landlord approached us when the space became available because antiques seemed to work well in the past at the new location,” said Mary Butler, co-owner of The Butler Did It Antiques. “We really weren’t that interested in it until he made us an offer we just couldn’t refuse.”
Although the move was originally unexpected, the owners had no problems filling the 950 sq. ft. space at the new location. The Butler Did It now has a total of 1,400 sq. ft. of showroom space.

Considering the business sells a great deal of product online, they have had the need to warehouse a vast amount of inventory in storage locations that have included the owners’ homes and garages. Those items can now go on display in the new space.
“It was easy filling the store because our houses are cluttered with these things,” said Elizabeth Butler, co-owner and Mary Butler’s daughter. “Our antiques have always been very homey. It’s not necessarily high-end stuff, but rather stuff that reminds you of grandma’s house.”
The Butlers plan to transform the new location into an antique mall in the coming months.
“We want to house ten ‘like-minded’ vendors in order to offer a range of different products,” said Elizabeth Butler.
The Butler Did It Antiques has been selling antiques in the area for several years, including a stint in the original Seaside Carousel Mall located in downtown Seaside. The owners moved the business to Cannon Beach over a year ago because they felt it was a better fit for their demographic.
