John L. Scott Real Estate in Seaside recently added Gail Moren to its team of real estate professionals.

Moren joined John L. Scott after being certified in “Sustainability Training for Accredited Real Estate Professionals” by Earth Advantage and becoming a “Professional Trade Ally” of Energy Trust of Oregon.

Earth Advantage, a non-profit that promotes green building and sustainability, was originally created by regional utility agencies. Energy Trust of Oregon is an arm of the Oregon Public Utilities Commission that promotes energy conservation.

Both certifications enable Moren to help clients lower energy costs by connecting them with resources that can help make their homes more energy efficient.

By making upgrades, most homeowners can receive cash incentives through the program and tax credits from the state.

“I initially became interested in these programs when I learned that green homes, on average, sell faster than traditional homes,” said Moren.

Beyond suggesting energy-efficient improvements, Moren can use Energy Trust and Earth Advantage as a marketing tool to help sell qualifying homes.
