“We got a very nice mention in THE NEW YORK TIMES,” NANCY BATY at CLEANLINE SURF SHOP in Cannon Beach (www.cleanline surf.com) wrote to the Ear about an article titled, “Gear Test With the Surfing Doctors” by Stephen Krcmar. “Owner JOSH GIZDAVICH sat down for an interview and talked about some of the stuff he knows best, wetsuits.”

The article, which can be found at (http://tinyurl.com/surfnyt), is about two surfing-buddy doctors, Dr. Scott Bisheff, pictured above left in a photo by Eros Hoagland for The New York Times, and Dr. Greg Frye. They are emergency room physicians who regularly surf around San Luis Obispo, Calif., and wear wetsuits all year long. For the article, they tested five suits in water temperatures ranging from 53 to 58 degrees.

Well, the Ear got curious. How did The Times find out about Cleanline, and know to come to Gizdavich for his expertise? “2010 marks Josh’s 30th year in business, and he’s been wearing wetsuits much longer than that,” Baty said. “So in the industry he’s known as a bit of a wetsuit guru (though he wouldn’t answer to that) as per his knowledge and expertise with the products and fitting people. Hence, when the writer started doing his research, someone recommended he contact Josh. We are definitely stoked to get the mention!”
