Emily Scott

Columbus, Ohio

June 17, 1993 — Feb. 13, 2024

Emily Anne Scott, 30, born on June 17, 1993, was taken into the arms of God on Feb. 13.

She was a graduate of Northridge High School in Johnstown, Ohio, in 2011. She attended Ohio State University, earning her bachelor’s degree, later garnering a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) certification from Pennsylvania State University. She was a master’s degree candidate at the University of Kentucky.

Emily’s second home was Astoria, where she made great friendships during her employment at the Astoria Co+op, Lewis and Clark National Historical Park and others.

She was highly respected within the community of natural sciences professionals. Cancer, however, dashed her dreams and cut short her bright future.

Grieving her loss are her parents, Kevin and Amy Scott; fiancé, Brian Thom; brothers, Alexander (Cynthia) and Evan Scott; niece, Fiona Scott; grandma, Joan Scott; and many others.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ernie and Joanne Johnson and Gayle Scott Jr.

Emily had a rare combination of intellect, self-assurance and a fun-loving personality. Her love of life was infectious. Her smile illuminated every room. Emily was a young woman of unrelenting drive and vision. She was poised to do great things. The world has lost a champion.
