Businesses closed for Martin Luther King Day
In observance of Martin Luther King Day on Monday, all federal, state, county and city offices, including Astoria, Warrenton, Gearhart, Seaside and Cannon Beach city halls, are closed. All U.S. post offices are closed, and there is no mail delivery.
Astoria, Jewell, Knappa, Warrenton/Hammond and Seaside (including Cannon Beach and Gearhart) school district schools, and Clatsop Community College, are closed.
The Astoria Library and the Seaside Library are closed Monday. The Warrenton Community Library is closed Monday and Tuesday.
The Port of Astoria offices and services are closed Monday.
Garbage collection through Recology Western Oregon and the city of Warrenton garbage collection are not affected by the holiday. Recology Western Oregon’s transfer station is open.
The Sunset Pool in Seaside is open Monday from 5:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Astoria Aquatic Center is closed.
The Clatsop County Heritage Museum, Oregon Film Museum, Flavel House and Carriage House are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Uppertown Firefighters’ Museum is closed.
Fort Clatsop is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Columbia River Maritime Museum is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunset Empire Transportation (“The Bus”) is running.
The Astorian offices are open.
Old Youngs Bay Bridge full daytime closures start Jan. 19
You may have seen our crews on the Old Youngs Bay Bridge working to replace support beams and posts under the bridge.
| Plan ahead for four daytime full bridge closures starting Monday, Jan. 19 and Tuesday, Jan. 20.
During the closures, the bridge will close from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a signed detour around the closure using the U.S. 101 New Youngs Bay Bridge. There also may be single lane closures 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday as well as nighttime single lane closures as needed, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Road work for week of Jan. 19 Crews will be performing ditch maintenance in Astoria, Knappa and Jewell districts, grading gravel roads in the Knappa and Astoria districts, and chopping in the Astoria district. — The Astorian |
