Letter: CCC’s ‘locked door’ policy unenforced

After the Uvalde, Texas, school shooting, the then-Board of Education for Clatsop Community College ordered the then president to issue and enforce a policy that all classroom doors, and all doors to administration offices students would not normally access, be locked at all times.
After the report on the shooting came out, blaming unlocked exterior and classroom doors for the high death count, we were assured that the “locked door” policy was in place.
If it was, it was never enforced. On several occasions I went around campus and randomly checked classroom doors. Few were locked. CCC students are sitting ducks because most teachers do not lock classroom doors.
