In One Ear: Go get it

Well, it’s Christmas in April for some folks, after Oregon State Treasurer Elizabeth Steiner announced the Treasury is returning $11 million in unclaimed property to Oregonians.

“Oregon holds millions of dollars in unclaimed assets, like uncashed checks, forgotten bank accounts, security deposits, tax refunds, credit balances, investment accounts, and other funds,” according to the Oregon State Treasury website.

“Oregon’s Unclaimed Property Program — now part of Oregon State Treasury — keeps those funds safe for their rightful owner to claim. Search to see if the state is holding money that belongs to you!”

The treasury is now also the repository for unclaimed military medals and insignia. Missing a medal? Go to tinyurl.com/ORmedals.

The Ear received a nice little dividend a few years ago, after searching the website and submitting a claim. Just put your name in at unclaimed.oregon.gov, and see what happens.
