Letter: ‘Strive on with diligence’ in this troubled time

It’s a “national emergency”! Lions and tigers and bears, oh no!

Tariffs on trading partners, then rescinded, then increased other tariffs, tanking our economy, prices spiking, supply chains seizing up, rewarding loyalists, punishing enemies, oh no!

Is there a real “plan?” Is this nonsense on purpose, tightening his grip on power? The real motivation isn’t trade, or reducing cost of living. It’s control.

Power is what every dictator wants, achieved with “control by chaos”? Who said: What good fortune for governments that people do not think … The victor will never be asked if he told the truth.” (If you said Hitler, you’re right!)

It might have all started with Nero as “he played on” (the golf course?) while Rome burned. Or, perhaps Marie Antoinette, who could care less if people could afford groceries, famously saying “Let them eat cake!” Citizens be damned!

But Gandhi said, “Anger and intolerance are the enemies of correct understanding … action expresses priorities.” What is the priority of a responsible leader who cares more about the country than personal gain?

From Buddha, “Chaos is inherent in all compounded things. Strive on with diligence.” We can all do something. Come to the party, write letters, vote, march, be diligent.

If you didn’t notice “the emperor has no clothes,” it may be because he is distracting people with all his circus clowns. Instead of believing in fairy tales (lies), maybe we should become more familiar with real history (facts). The past may become the prologue.

Are we paying attention yet?
