Letter: Just say no to fluoridation

Regarding “City mulls removing fluoride from drinking water” (The Astorian, April 10): What a concept! Water treatment is absolutely necessary, but when communities force medications down our throats via our water supplies, that’s not freedom of choice.
There’s more: A 10-year cohort study, which included over 6 million adults in England, was the largest, strongest study of fluoridation effectiveness in adults ever done, and found virtually no benefit: a lifetime reduction in decay of only 2%.
How about the 80-plus studies on lowered IQs? How does one regulate how much water to drink if it’s fluoridated? So, is it worth it? Warrenton says probably not. Astoria should say the same. It’s a waste of money and resources.
Enough of the anecdotal evidence from the dentists and “health” experts. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. may not be right about much lately, but I agree with him on this.
