CMH welcomes three new providers

Columbia Memorial Hospital has announced that Sergio Camba, M.D.; Jon Ekstrom, M.D.; and Tonya Frederick, a certified family nurse practitioner, have joined the organization as new providers. 

Camba has joined the CMH Emergency Department. He recently worked at the Oregon Health & Science University Emergency Department in Portland, where he completed his fellowship in emergency medicine.

He earned his medical degree from St. George’s University in Grenada, West Indies, and completed his residency at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey. Before going to medical school, he worked as an emergency medical technician and first aid instructor in the Seattle area. He is fluent in Spanish and English.

Ekstrom is a radiologist in CMH Imaging Services. Since 1989, he has worked at Radiology Associates in Eugene. He previously served as president of the organization.

He earned his medical degree from OHSU. He completed an internship at Tucson Hospital in Tucson, Arizona, a residency in diagnostic radiology and a fellowship in pediatric radiology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, and another fellowship in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) and ultrasound from the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle.

For four years, Ekstrom has been a member of the Foundation Board of Directors for the Oregon Institute of Technology. He is also chairman of the Lane Individual Practice Association (LIPA) Osteoporosis Committee.

Frederick works in the CMH Urgent Cares in Astoria, Seaside and Warrenton. She previously worked in the clinics from 2021 to 2023. Most recently, she was director of nursing for the Health Science Center at the University of North Texas at Fort Worth, Texas.

She earned her master’s degree in nursing, and a family nurse practitioner degree from Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California. She also completed a primary care psychiatry fellowship program at the University of California at Irvine/Davis, and a bachelor’s degree in nursing at California State University, Los Angeles.
