Moose lovers, who also happen to love Sweden, rejoice! It’s time for the wildly popular annual 24-hour Swedish live-stream, “The Great Moose Migration” (“Den stora älgvandringen”), Smithsonian Magazine announced recently. Last year there were over 9 million viewers.

The moose are migrating to their summer grazing pastures, and to do so, they have to swim across the Ångerman River. To cover the critters day and night, there are 26 remote cameras, seven night cameras, and even overhead drones. This year the cameras are on until May 4.

“It became, in a strange way, gripping because nothing catastrophic is happening, nothing spectacular is happening,” Annette Hill, a media and communications scholar, said. “But something very beautiful is happening in that minute-by-minute moment.” (Screenshot: Den stora älgvandringen)
