League play is underway for softball and baseball teams.
Warrenton baseball had its first league test, while Astoria and Seaside played round one of the Clatsop Clash in both baseball and softball.

Astoria, Seaside
A five-run fifth inning was enough for Seaside baseball on Tuesday. The 7-5 victory over Astoria snapped a two-game losing streak and got Seaside on the board in Cowapa League play.
Seagulls sophomore Brayden Cooley gave up just two earned runs in 6.2 innings. Cooley limited the Fishermen to just two runs despite allowing a number of base runners. He also knocked in three runs at the plate.
Seaside batted around in the fifth inning, as Astoria made four errors.
Astoria pitcher Joey Gramlich pitched five innings and struck out five. Though he got charged with the loss and seven total runs, only two of them were earned. Ian McCormick was the top Fishermen hitter as he went 2-3 with a walk. The loss was Astoria’s fourth consecutive.
Down the highway was another Clatsop Clash.
Astoria softball hosted rival Seaside in their first of three matchups. A four-run fourth inning gave the Fishermen enough separation for a 6-1 win.
Fishermen pitcher Taryen Wray gave up just two hits in seven innings and struck out nine Seagulls in the process. Aryana Adams had a home run for Astoria, while Kate Barendse led the team with two runs batted in.
Seaside pitchers Allie Corder and Lydia Klumper allowed 11 base runners in their six innings of work. Layla Varozza and Carly Corder had the hits for Seaside. Varozza also had the only RBI on the day.
With the win, Astoria improved to 9-2-1 while Seaside fell to 2-9.

Warrenton baseball wins
Wednesday was the first of several major league matchups for the Warrenton Warriors.
After winning the Coastal Range League last season by outlasting Valley Catholic and Banks, the Warriors have another team to contend with this year, Horizon Christian.
The 3A No. 2 ranked Hawks struck first, going up 3-0.
The Warriors were trailing 3-1 heading into the sixth inning, but scored the next five to take a three-run lead into the bottom of the seventh.
The Hawks scored two runs in the seventh to make the game 6-5. Odin Wilson came in as a reliever and got the final two outs to give Warrenton a big early-season victory.
Talon McGrorty threw 110 pitches and had 14 strikeouts, two earned runs and allowed just three hits. He also had two hits and an RBI. Wilson and Blake Tingstrom joined him with two hits apiece.
Combined with their 15-5 victory on Monday, the Warriors are now 5-0 in league play. They are scheduled to host second place Valley Catholic at 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
Warrenton softball snapped its losing streak with a 4-3 victory against Rainier on Tuesday.
Natalie Davis, Gracelyn Brown, Brooklyn Nichols and Scarlet Anderson had the RBIs for Warrenton.
With the victory, Warrenton moved to 2-7-1 on the season and continued league play with a Thursday double-header against Banks.

Knappa cruise in league openers
Knappa softball and baseball scored victories.
The Lady Loggers beat Gaston 18-0, while the boys won 4-1. Jude Miller, Oliver Stevens, Braxton Hill and Lukas Masters combined to allow just one run on the mound. Stevens was the winning pitcher after going three innings and striking out six. The Loggers had just four hits, but took advantage of two Gaston errors.
Knappa softball now sits at 7-3 and is No. 10 in the 2A rankings, while the boys are 5-2 and No. 2 in 2A.
