On-the-water safety training offered for commercial fishermen

The Alaska Marine Safety Education Association (AMSEA) is offering a free Fishing Vessel Drill Conductor and Fishermen’s First Aid and Safety Training course from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 25-27 at the Barbey Maritime Center, 2042 Marine Drive. Lunch and snacks will be provided.

The instructors are Curtis Farrell, Amanda Gladics and Ron Hilburger. The course will cover essential safety topics to improve on-the-water preparedness and response. 

This training is free for commercial fishermen, or $850 to all others, although AMSEA scholarships may be available. This training is made possible by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, the Coast Guard, Oregon Sea Grant and AMSEA members.
