In One Ear: Angel’s path

Many of us have been watching and hoping for the rescue of an abandoned, very skittish husky on the Long Beach Peninsula Friends of Facebook page, but it was John Good who took a personal interest in saving the dog.
After his husky mix, Maddie, died recently, “another sweet angel wiggled her way into my heart,” he wrote, “and the hearts of many.”
Angel, as he has named her, has had a rough life. Good said she’s been homeless most of her three-year life, living with an unhoused person who died in March.
“She has never known the comfort of being indoors,” Good wrote. “She has never had a warm bed to sleep in. She has never had the promise of a full belly at the end of every day. She has likely never known the companionship of other dogs. There’s only ever been Angel, and her person, and now it is only she.”
Not anymore. Good and some helpers finally managed to trap her, and she is now safe. However, she has a long road ahead of her. She’s in the midst of ongoing veterinary care, and is being boarded. She has been dematted, and now Good is spending time with her, socializing her, and teaching her to trust.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help with her recovery, “Angel’s Path to Trust and Love,” at tinyurl.com/angelpath. “My pledge to you,” Good wrote, “is to deliver her to a life that she deserves, and into a home full of loving hearts and hands.” (Photo: John Good)
