After a strong opening performance at The Dalles Invitational, Seaside boys kept the momentum going with a 320-364 victory over St. Helens at Three Rivers Golf Course on Thursday.
The 320 shot by Seaside was the lowest team score since 2019, when the team went on to finish second place in state.
Madden Wunderlich and Logan Norman tied for first with 79s. They were followed by Xanh Quang, with an 80, and Alex Arden shot an 82 to round out the scoring.
“It is nice to get an early season win with a decent score,” head coach Jim Poetsch said in a statement. “But I think we can be even better before the season is over.
“We got two players into the seventies barely, but I feel that we should have all four of our top guys well into the seventies pretty quickly. They’ve put in the time over the past few years to become really good golfers and it’s only a matter of time before we start shooting some really low scores.”
The Seagulls are set to continue Cowapa League action with a match against Astoria at Gearhart Golf Links on Tuesday. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
