Oregon Works donates to CCC
On March 19, Northwest Oregon Works awarded $11,395 to Clatsop Community College’s Maritime Science Department at its Marine Environmental Research Training Station.
The check presentation was led by Len Tumbarello, Northwest Oregon Works’ Maritime Program coordinator. The funds will bring new navigation equipment to the Maritime Science Department’s training vessel, M/V Forerunner. This equipment upgrade will allow the Forerunner to match industry standards, and provide students with a better learning experience.
In 2024, the school’s Maritime Science Department was selected as a Center of Excellence for Domestic Maritime Workforce Training and Education by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration. This designation is valid for five years.
