About 120 cats — and their owners — settled in this weekend at the Clatsop County Fair & Expo Center for the Cascadia Cat Club’s inaugural cat show.

The show featured cats and kittens of all types and breeds, and judges assessed the competing felines on categories such as overall health, adherence to the breed standards and how well they had been groomed. Categories included shorthair and longhair breeds — and kittens as well. (Kittens had to be at least 4 months old to compete.)

The show even included a “home pets” category to offer tips to owners interested in entering their cats in future shows.

Seven judges worked through the weekend to judge the entrants. At the end, an all-black Maine coon cat was named best in show.

The event, organized by Mark Baur and Jill Dougerty, attracted cats from throughout the Pacific Northwest.
