“Big news!” James P. Connelly shared on The Goonies Fan Page March 6, “I’m thrilled to share with this fan page first — that I’m leading the restoration of the iconic Goonies House in Astoria! My studio, JPConnelly, some incredible fans and I, are bringing the house back to the way it was in this piece of movie history — just in time for the 40th anniversary!

“I am a production designer in Los Angeles with over 15 years’ experience on some of the biggest projects in TV, but being able to work on this restoration is an absolute honor and challenge to get perfect, and I can’t wait to share the journey with you all. I’ll post more info and updates for behind-the-scenes peeks at how we’re preserving the magic of our beloved home! Ask any questions you have … “

In another post, Connelly swears to restore the house down to “every nook and cranny.”

On his own Facebook page, Connelly added, “My team and I have so much responsibility, not just to the film, but to those who made it as iconic as it is, and to make the fans proud … It all starts now, and while we’re getting our research done and searching for the perfect (set) dressing, I might need your help.” Stay tuned.
