Letter: Despots and dictators

Up until now, the United States has been the leader of the free world. Allied with democracies around the world, we have fought against dictators and despots. Our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution have been the beacon for freedom-loving people the world over for generations.
Now, we will no longer be the leader of the free world. Now, we are aligning with the dictators and the despots. Due to the greed and lust for power of a narcissistic madman, we are turning our backs on our allies and the democracies of the world, and joining the aggressor Russia in its war upon Ukraine.
All of the values and principles for which the United States has stood for the past 250 years are being sold out by Donald Trump and his Republican toadies. They would have us join Russia, and it’s allies China, North Korea and Iran. Is this the side you want us to be on? Is this what makes America great?
Make no mistake. Vladimir Putin is a dictator. Vladimir Putin is one of the bad guys. And just because Donald Trump wants to emulate him and do his bidding, it doesn’t mean we have to go along.
It’s a famous quote, and for good reason. “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Do not let them destroy everything the United States stands for. Speak out against this atrocity.
