Letter: Dubious ‘assistance’

“When a distressed nation appeals for this or that or the other grace or help, she hears an answering voice of sympathy from this or that or the other creed or group or faction, scattered here and there and yonder in the spaces of the earth: it is only when she asks for bread, that creed and party are forgotten and the whole world rises to respond.” — Mark Twain
It’s been reported in the news an independent agency of the U.S. government, that is primarily responsible for administering civilian foreign aid and development assistance, is actually spending money for all sorts of extra-curricular activity that has nothing to do with foreign aid and developmental assistance.
In other words, the “independent” agency, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), looks to be an unaccountable slush fund for all sorts of dubious “assistance.” In one case, $2 million has gone for sex changes and LGBT activism in Guatemala. USAID paid out $7.9 million to teach Sri Lankan journalists how to avoid “binary-gendered language.” Another $5.5 million went for LGBT activism in Uganda.
Really?
The list is endless of examples of American tax dollars going for no other reason than to push an agenda worldwide that is already causing chaos here in the United States. And most Americans didn’t know this was happening.
When you consider USAID’s official motto is, “From the American People,” I’m sure not all Americans are happy when they find out about this type of charity.
