Astoria, Warrenton wrestlers shine in road trips

Astoria and Warrenton wrestlers continued their busy seasons as they took to the mats over the weekend.

The Fishermen traveled to Kelso, Washington for the Bob Holter Invitational, while the Warriors spent Saturday at the Bob Beisell Invitational in Forest Grove.
Warriors see solid results
The Warrenton boys wrestling team brought home a fourth-place finish. The Warriors earned 113 points to finish behind Sunset, Forest Grove and Grant.
Kaison Smith added to his first-place collection with another victory in the 285-pound division. He defeated Brody Sahlfeld of Glencoe in the final.
Other Warriors who finished in the top six included Rayce Sturgell, Finley Marshall, Mason Bell, Ryder Sturgell, Brayden Greenawald, Devon Sturgell and Sean Irwin.
Rayce Sturgell finished fourth at 106 pounds. Marshall placed third at 120 pounds. Bell was second at 144 pounds. Ryder Sturgell finished third at 150. Greenawald was runner-up at 157 pounds, Devon Sturgell came home second at 175 and Irwin was fourth at 190 pounds.
Smith victorious for Astoria
Sophomore Beau Smith carried the torch for Astoria with a first-place win at 138 pounds.
Other Fishermen who finished in the top six included Jaron Mincey, Emilio Rabell, Landon Reed and Arthur Duryea.
Mincey finished sixth at 144 pounds. Rabell also finished sixth at 150 pounds. Reed was fourth at 165 pounds and Duryea finished second at 215 pounds.
As a team, Astoria finished in ninth place with 80 points.
