Knappa girls start off league on the right foot

Knappa High School girls basketball started off league play with a 64-13 thrashing of Gaston on Tuesday.

After going 6-4 during a difficult nonleague schedule, the Loggers will now look to make another run at a league title. In order to do that the Loggers will have to compete with league rivals Clatskanie, Nestucca and Vernonia over the next month.

Knappa boys extend winning streak

Time off didn’t hurt Knappa High School boys basketball as they kept their winning streak alive. A 59-29 win over Gaston extended the Loggers winning streak to seven games.

After finishing fourth in league last season, the No. 7 ranked Loggers are well positioned to improve on that mark. No. 2 ranked Portland Christian looks to be the Loggers main competition for a 2A-1 Northwest League title.
