Eva Linda (DeLeon) Ferrell, 72, of Warrenton, passed away on Nov. 29.
Eva was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on April 5, 1952. She traveled the world with her then-husband, John P. Delgado, as a military spouse. Eva was a loving, stay-at-home mom until her kids were old enough to attend school.
She started her federal career at Incirlik Air Base, in Turkey, in 1986. Her family then transferred to Hahn Air Base, in Germany, in 1988, during the Cold War.
Following Germany, they moved to Ellsworth Air Force Base, in South Dakota, where she began working for the National Park Service at Mount Rushmore in Keystone, South Dakota.
After divorcing John, she transferred to the Fort Clatsop National Memorial in Astoria in 1996. She would later retire from federal service and the National Park Service at Fort Clatsop in 2014.
She met and married her husband, Daniel G. Ferrell, in 1997, in Warrenton. They were married for 27 years. They had a wonderful life. A week after Eva’s passing, Dan joined her in heaven on Dec. 6.
Eva had an infectious smile, bringing joy to this world. She loved to host and entertain in her home. She loved cooking for everyone. Her dream was to open a Mexican restaurant. She made the best homemade tortillas, enchiladas and chicken mole. She would have huge spreads for the holidays, and open invitations to her festive open houses.
She had a social spirit and enjoyed being surrounded by people. She had the best friends and neighbors one could ask for, and they visited her regularly. She was loved by so many. Thank you for loving and caring for our momma!
Eva and John were married for 19 years, and they have three children, Jason Delgado (Kayla Greene), of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Michelle Delgado (Mike Auston), and Lisa Delgado-Alvarado, both of Panama City, Florida.
She has eight grandchildren, Legacy Delgado, Destiny Delgado, Justice Delgado, Grace Alvarado, Faith Alvarado, Halo Delgado-Auston, Ryder Delgado-Auston and Megan Delgado.
Eva is also survived by her brother, George DeLeon, who lives in Fort Worth, where she has many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father, Guadalupe DeLeon Sr; mother, Leola (Galvan) Reyes; sister, Virginia (DeLeon) Keilholtz; and brothers, Guadalupe DeLeon Jr. and Michael Cuellar.
Dan’s children include David Ferrell, Rebecca Moreno, Nancy Johnson and Maria Bailey.
A memorial service for Dan and Eva will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 19 at Lewis and Clark Bible Church, 35082 Seppa Road.
