Letter: What would Popeye say?

“That’s all I can stands, ’cause I can’t stands no more.” ― Popeye the Sailor Man

Americans got a firsthand example this week about how career politicians and bureaucrats work. We also got a load of how the media supports certain politicians and bureaucrats. Given the way the 2024 election unfolded, it’s obvious the public “can’t stands no more.”

For four years, the media has reported that the current president was as sharp as a tack. And, for most of that time period, we were also told that the border was secure, the current president wouldn’t pardon his son for the crimes he committed, and that government intervention in the COVID breakout was needed.

In the past few days we have seen a befuddled president pardon his son.

It has been reported that in 2023 alone, we doled out over $150 billion to deal with illegal immigrants.

Along with these, the House Oversight Committee’s final report on COVID shows masks and 6-foot spacing were not based on conclusive evidence and science. And, we all know how detrimental those acts were on all children — possibly for the rest of their lives.

A majority of voters seem to want to turn this ship around. It’s also apparent most folks made some news outlets and politicians walk the plank.

I just hope those in the media and in public office start telling the truth about all things possible, and not leaving Americans standing around saying, “Well, blow me down.”
