Terry and Dorothy Gramson

Warrenton

Dec. 8, 1946 — Dec. 13, 2023

Dorothy “Dot” (Hollaway) Gramson was born in Alabama to Emmett and Evelyn (Ward). As a child, her family made Warrenton their home. Convivial and outgoing, Dot quickly made many lifelong friends.

Dot excelled at school, where she was a member of many clubs and organizations, most notably the National Honor Society and Oregon American Legion Auxiliary Girls State. After graduating, she pursued her passion for computer science. As a young woman, she traveled across Europe.

In 1971, Dot embarked on a new chapter in her life, exchanging vows with Terry Gramson. She embraced the role of stepmother to his son, Mitch, and later welcomed the arrival of a son and daughter with Terry, nurturing a home filled with warmth and unconditional love.

Dot’s compassionate spirit led her to complete the nursing program at Clatsop Community College, marking the beginning of her long career as a school nurse. Dot’s legacy as a healer is etched in the lives she touched and the hearts she comforted.

Outside of her professional life, Dot was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. After retiring, Terry and Dot embraced a life of shared joy. They explored the Pacific Northwest, discovering its hidden treasures and scenic wonders.

Dot’s favorite moments were spent cheering on her grandchildren from the sidelines and bleachers. Nothing made her happier than celebrating the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren.

Dot died just two weeks after the death of her beloved husband. Terry and Dot found happiness in simple, yet profound moments. They cherished every experience of their shared lives together.

Dot is survived by a daughter, Heather, and her husband, Nate DeRoss; son, Harold, and his wife, Tara (Humphries); stepson, Mitch, and his wife, Debbie (Vanderveldt); stepdaughter, Melissa, and her husband, Andy Norton; grandchildren, Talia, Ryker, Niles, Tyler, Drew and Hannah; great-grandchildren, Anika, Myleigh, Niles, Abigail and Lucy; brother, Joe Hollaway (Gayla); nephew, Josh Hollaway (Calandra), and their son, Jase; nephew, Jordan Hollaway; stepsiblings, Gary, Carol, Vicky and Jeff; and her best friend forever, our aunt, Linda Gramson.
