Playoff soccer is back on the menu for Astoria High School.

The Astoria girls will return to the state playoffs for the first time since 2021 after their 1-0 victory against St. Helens High School on Tuesday. A first-half goal by senior Eva Espelien was all the Fishermen needed to clinch a home playoff game.

The win wrapped up one of the best recent seasons for Astoria, as they finished 9-4-1 overall and second place in league behind Scappoose.

After losing 6-0 to North Marion in their last playoff appearance, the Fishermen will look to use CMH Field as an advantage against 10th seeded Crook County on Wednesday.

Seaside girls win last game

Seaside High School girls soccer saved their best performance for last.

After struggling to score throughout much of league play, the Seagulls turned up the heat in their final game against Tillamook. The 5-0 victory was their most impressive game all season and marked the first time Seaside scored more than three goals since Sept. 17.

Despite not qualifying for the playoffs this season, the Seagulls can take positives from their last two results as they scored seven goals in their final two matches.

The win closes the book on a 4-8-2 regular season and fifth-place finish in league for Seaside.

Astoria boys soccer reaches playoffs

Astoria High School boys soccer capped off a successful 2024 league campaign with a 2-1 victory over St. Helens.

The victory saw the Fishermen wrap up second place in the Cowapa League and end the league season on a five-game winning streak. Astoria plays against North Marion in the first round of the playoffs on Tuesday.

Seaside boys soccer season comes to an end

Seaside High School soccer wrapped up their season with a 4-0 loss to league champion Tillamook.

With the loss, Seaside finished 6-7-1 overall and fourth place in the Cowapa League. After making the playoffs last season in a very competitive 4A division, the Seagulls miss out this year.
