Letter: Let’s make a deal

“History has tried hard to teach us that we can’t have good government under politicians. Now, to go and stick one at the very head of the government couldn’t be wise.” — Mark Twain

The ballots are in the people’s hands, and at the presidential level we have three choices. This reminds me of the original “Let’s Make a Deal,” where the contestants have a choice of Door No. 1, Door No. 2 or Door No. 3. The only difference being we already know what’s behind all three doors.

Behind one door, we have a career businessman who didn’t really need to run for president. He has a family business that provides his family with a comfortable living. He decided to risk that life and run for president because he felt the nation was going in the wrong direction. Currently, polls indicate over 70% of Americans feel as he does.

Behind a second door we have an incongruous, chaotic mixture of candidates who very few voters have heard about. These candidates are a jumble of progressives, Libertarians, greenies and others who mostly are on the ballot to soothe their egos with the lifetime designation as a “former candidate for president.” These candidates have no idea in which direction they are going.

Behind the final door, we have a clueless career politician who, in the past four years, has helped cause the nation to go in the wrong direction.

Choose this last door, and you will definitely spend the next four years experiencing the Zonk …
