Letter: Truly represent

Before moving to Astoria 30 years ago, I worked for a city that enacted developers’ fees. Our candidates for state representative in House District 32 differ on this issue, with state Rep. Cyrus Javadi criticizing Astoria City Councilor Andy Davis for supporting Astoria’s fee structure. Let’s be clear; either new development pays for needed infrastructure, or existing taxpayers do. That means you.
There are many differences between these candidates, including their positions on women’s health and the primacy of clean water in coastal communities. Most of Davis’ $92,000 in campaign funds come from local donors. Javadi has received about $700,000, with money from corporations and large donors. Who will each candidate truly represent with his votes?
From what I understand, Davis is willing to give up his day job as a data analyst with the Oregon Health Authority to be your representative. He will focus on the needs of all of District 32. I’ll vote for him.
