Warrenton falls to Yamhill-Carlton

After a successful Seaside Volleyball Tournament where they went 2-1, Warrenton High School dropped a league game to Yamhill-Carlton three sets to one on Tuesday.

Though the Warriors lost the match, they had a good showing. The Tigers are second place in league behind undefeated Corbett and had to play good volleyball to hold off the Warriors challenge.

The Tigers won the first set 25-21, Warrenton fought back to win set two 25-20, then Yamhill won sets three and four by scores of 25-14 and 26-24.

Knappa loses pair of four-set matches

The Loggers won the opening set against Nestucca 25-20 on Tuesday, but saw the Bobcats win the next three by scores of 25-8, 25-21 and 25-22. Then the Loggers fell short to Gaston on Wednesday.

Astoria boys soccer makes up ground

Despite going through a bit of a rough patch in early October, Astoria High School boys soccer has turned things around and have positioned themselves for a late-season push after consecutive victories.

The Fishermen started fast against Banks, then survived second half rain and a frantic Braves rally to win 2-1 on Tuesday night. Edwuard Lepe Ramirez and Ryan Knight scored the goals for Astoria, which improved to 3-2-1 in league and 19th in the Oregon School Activities Association rankings.

Seaside boys upended by Scappoose

Seaside High School soccer saw their losing streak reach two games after a 2-0 loss to Scappoose on Tuesday night.

The loss keeps Seaside, Astoria and Scappoose in a virtual dead heat for second place behind Tillamook with just a few games left to play in the regular season.

After a great result against league leading Scappoose to open league play, the Seaside girls weren’t able to duplicate it as they fell 4-0 to the Indians.
