Letter: Endorsing honor

Most Americans believe in honor, hard work, decency and fidelity to the law for themselves and their elected officials. Fortunately, Oregon has candidates who live those values every day. Indivisible North Coast Oregon is pleased to endorse these candidates who want to serve the public. INCO does not endorse candidates for local office.

• Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, for president and vice president: They’re working for a thriving economy for everyone and to defend the Constitution.

• Suzanne Bonamici, U.S. House of Representatives: She is respected by her colleagues and constituents for her successful longtime advocacy for democracy, schools, families and other aspects of rural, coastal living.

• Andy Davis, for state representative: He works to bring people together for effective, practical problem-solving in his work life and as an Astoria city councilor.

INCO, based in Clatsop County, defends democracy by opposing authoritarianism, bigotry and corruption. Started in 2017, we are a grassroots group linked with thousands of Indivisible volunteers across America.

Remember to vote your entire ballot. Local governments affect day-to-day life — taxes, schools, emergency services, public safety and more. Local elections have been won by as few as three votes. Your vote matters.

Register to vote, check your status, or update your voter registration if you have a new name, address or signature at vote.gov or at the county clerk’s office.

Register to vote by Oct. 15. Transform your hopes for our communities and country into effective action. Be a voter.
