Obituary: Patricia ‘Patti’ Gray

Patricia “Patti” Gray, 79, passed away on July 20 in Eugene. She was cremated by Alpha Cremations in Eugene.

Patti’s parents were Edwin and Norma Daw, of San Francisco. Patti loved growing up in San Francisco, and was voted most humorous by her classmates.

Patti married her first husband, Jeff Salfen, in Redmond, Washington, where they soon began a family and shared two wonderful daughters, Julie Carriere and Donna Waldrip, and adopted Chris Salfen, who was the light of their life.

Patti and Jeff divorced in 1974.

Patti later met the love of her life, Ron ”Pops” or “Ronnie” Gray in Astoria. Ron and Patti moved between California and Washington state for a number of years before settling down in Astoria.

Pops, who was born Feb. 27, 1944, preceded Patti in death on Dec. 15, 2021, at Sacred Heart Medical Center University District in Eugene, surrounded by loved ones.

Pops served in the Vietnam War, was a member of the Astoria Clowns for five years and also served in an ABATE motorcycle group for 10 years. Pops loved riding his motorcycle anytime and anywhere. Pops is survived by his sister, Linda, and two sons, Jimmy Gray and Ronnie Gray Jr.

Patti is survived by her brother, Mike Daw, of Arizona; her children, Julie Carriere, and her husband, John Carriere, Donna Waldrip, and her husband, Skip Waldrip, Chris Salfen, and his wife, Beth Salfen, and Steve Harrington, of Buffalo, New York; numerous grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; along with two granddogs, Pongo and Lucy.

A celebration of life will be held for both Ron and Patti from 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Warrenton Community Center, 170 S.W. Third St. in Warrenton.
