Election 2024

SEASIDE — City Councilor David Posalski and City Councilor Randy Frank will run for reelection in November.

Posalski, the owner of Tsunami Sandwich Co., was first elected to the City Council in 2020 for the Ward 4 position.

Before serving, he spent six years on the Seaside Chamber of Commerce board and Seaside Transportation Commission and three years on the Seaside Planning Commission.

“We have a lot of projects in the works in the city that need to be completed,” he said of his decision to seek another four-year term. “I want to make sure that we see them through.”

In addition to continuing to strategize locations and boundaries for the Seaside homeless encampment, the city will be working on planning the development of the North 40 park and overseeing the development of housing north of the park.

One of the challenges of local government, Posalski said, is keeping residents informed of current events.

“I love running into people who have questions about what’s going on with the city, or about something that’s happening with the city, and being able to keep them informed about what’s going on,” he said.

Going into the November election, Posalski wants residents to know that he has “an ability to listen to all sides of a situation and make a decision on what is best for the city, not just necessarily a small group of people.”

Frank, a former business owner, confirmed that he would be running for a fourth term but declined further comment. He was first elected in 2012 and serves at large Ward 1 and Ward 2.

City Councilor Tom Horning, a geologist who represents Ward 3, is up for reelection this year but could not be reached for comment about his plans. He was first elected in 2016.

The candidate filing deadline is Aug. 27.
