Ash Lacy, a senior 4-H member at Astoria High School, attended a national 4-H Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., in the spring. All of the youth attending were offered an opportunity to apply for a national grant, “Lead to Change,” a community service project that teenagers, in groups or by themselves, decide to do.
Lacy chose to raise funds for more food, clothing and hygiene resources in Clatsop County schools. She applied for and received a $500 grant from Oregon 4-H to complete this project, which is now also her senior project. She will be holding a fundraiser during the Clatsop County Fair. All donations will be sent directly to Knappa, Warrenton and Jewell schools.
