A Seaside man died Tuesday after a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 101 north of Gearhart.

The Oregon State Police said Thoren Poole, 33, was driving southbound in a Dodge Dakota at about 5:20 p.m. when he entered the northbound lane and struck a Ford F-450.

Poole was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford was seriously injured and taken to a local hospital, according to police.

The crash near milepost 15 impacted the highway for about six hours.
