Lisa Downs, a U.K. filmmaker, makes “Life After … ” documentaries, “celebrating the most incredible and important films of my childhood,” and now she has a Kickstarter fundraiser to bring to life her “Holy Grail” of documentaries, “Life After The Goonies.”
“Now, having recently spoken to Sean Astin at Liverpool Comic Con,” she said, “where nervously I proposed the documentary, and told him I couldn’t do it without his involvement, to which he replied, ‘why wouldn’t I do it?’ … with the 40th anniversary around the corner, it’s our time … ”
“ … Through cast, crew and fan interviews, this documentary will delve behind the scenes of the production, and explore what it really took to make such a classic, as well as celebrate the incredible and enduring legacy … (It) will also be a moving and heartfelt tribute to the legacy of (director) Richard Donner … ”
Also involved in the documentary are Mark Marshall (who worked on the original movie) as a consulting producer, and Behman Zakeri, owner of the Goonies house, who donated some rewards for campaign contributors.
The rewards vary by the amount of the contribution, and should inspire any Goonie fan, including a screen-used “Goonies” pirate gold coin, three separate prizes that take place at the Goonie house, a chance to be in the documentary, and many more.
Anyone interested in supporting this campaign should get right on it, as it ends at 8:54 a.m. Friday, Pacific Time. (Photo: Mark Marshall)
