Batten down the hatches, and get ready for an influx of people with dogs rushing to the Oregon Coast after the national news publication USA Today added two North Coast towns to their “10 Best Dog-Friendly Beaches in the U.S.” list.

Coming in at No. 5, Cannon Beach: “While Oregon’s Cannon Beach is best known for its towering rock formations, the area also doubles as a top spot for dog lovers, with canines getting the chance to explore along the shore, as long as they’re on-leash or can follow voice control.”

And, at No. 2, Seaside: “On a rare sunny day on the Oregon Coast, Seaside beach provides ample opportunity for dogs to roam. Visitors can take to the water with their off-leash pups, while the area offers many dog-friendly restaurants for a post-beach meal.”

“At these 10 beaches, selected by an expert panel and voted by readers as the best in the U.S.,” USA Today says, “your canine companion can frolic in the waves or sprint across the soft sand.” Just be sure to keep an eye out for those sneaker waves and riptides.
