“Taming the Mouth,” a documentary about the geography of the Columbia River Bar and the construction of the jetties that control its entrance, is now in production.

“Two Tacoma, Washington guys, myself and Jeff Holt, plus our third executive producer, Gary Kobes, from Chinook, Washington, have been working towards creating this feature-length documentary for over two years now,” Joe Foss wrote. “We are in the home stretch of production work — (it’s) expected to be another year before we will be ready to debut this story that has never been told on film before.”

While the trio are amateurs in the film world, Resonance Productions Inc. out of Portland is also on board, with director Brett Eichenberger, writer and producer Jill Remensnyder and cinematographer Michael Ferry.

“This project is driven by passion, not profit,” Foss added, “and we aim to cover our production costs through corporate sponsorships, crowdfunding and potential grants.”

They have a crowdfunding page at bit.ly/TamingTheMouth, where there’s also a trailer that will likely pique your interest in this intriguing local history production.
