Hammond
Sept. 2, 1924 — April 14, 2024
Frances Hartman (born Froukje van der Meer), 99, went to be with the Lord on April 14. She was born Sept. 2, 1924, in Heeg, Friesland, The Netherlands, and is survived by her husband, Martin (Martinus), 100, who was born in Den Haag, The Netherlands.
They were married for 73 years, and would have celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary on May 3. Soon after marrying, they left The Netherlands and immigrated to Australia, where Marjorie and Lynette were born.
After waiting seven years to immigrate, they finally arrived in the U.S., where Carolyn and Edward were born. Frances dedicated her life to her children, foster children and the elderly.
She loved gardening, sewing, bike riding, camping and crossword puzzles. We all miss her smile, the twinkle in her eyes, her joking ways and her love of life.
We can still hear her singing, “This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Frances loved God, and remained faithful through her final days.
She was the mother of daughters Marjorie Hartman, Lynette Johnson (Alan), Carolyn Thompson (Michael), and a son, Edward Martin Hartman, who passed away in 1972.
She was grandmother to Carley Schultz (Stephen), Jennifer Cisnernos (Josue), Taylor Grove (Robin) and Jesse Thompson (Ciara). Her great-grandchildren are Ethan, Westley and Cameron Grove, Kaitlynn and Anthony Cisneros, Hudsun, Makena and Crosby Schultz and Charlotte, Amelia and Hadley Thompson.
There will be a private graveside service at a later date.
She blossomed on Earth to bloom in heaven.
