Suzanne Marie (Killion) Aiken was born on March 22, 1961, in Astoria. She passed away on Feb. 15, 2024, in Portland, at the age of 62.
Suzanne was a beautiful woman with a beautiful soul. Her infectious smile could brighten any room, and her cheerful personality uplifted everyone around her. She adored her family and close friends, especially her beloved children and grandchildren, whom she loved to spoil whenever she could.
She is survived by her mother, Genevieve Killion; brothers, Randy, David Donny and John Killion; the love of her life and father to her children, Steve Aiken; son, Stephen Aiken; daughters Sheleni (David) Quashnick, Sharian (Justin) Gauathier and Penni (Forest) Kleber; and her grandchildren, Madalyne Aiken, Brooklyn, Savanna, Avarie and Gunner Quashnick, Waylon and Jolene Gauthier and Nathan Kleber.
Suzanne was preceded in death by her father, William Killion; brother, Steve Killion; and granddaughter, Katelyn Kleber.
Suzanne attended Lewis and Clark Elementary School, Astoria High School and Clatsop Community College. Her career primarily involved sales, excelling in customer service. She enjoyed helping people in many ways, whether as a beauty consultant making them feel more beautiful, or as a mortgage loan officer assisting customers with their homes.
Suzanne loved reminiscing about her time in the circus at Lewis and Clark Elementary School, and cherished memories from her childhood while she participated in 4-H. Not only did she raise animals as projects for the Clatsop County Fair, she also was amazing at sewing, and created an entire wardrobe that was presented in fashion show form as a 4-H project.
Suzanne sewed all her own clothes in high school. She also designed and sewed her own extravagant wedding gown, plus made all the bridesmaid dresses for her wedding party.
Another amazing talent Suzanne had was playing the piano! She played piano in the talent portion of the Miss Clatsop County Pageant of 1979, when she was crowned Miss Sunset Empire at the age of 17.
Suzanne cherished all the time spent helping and guiding her own children while they participated in 4-H at the local county fair. Suzanne really enjoyed seeing her own children showing their projects — especially when they ended up showing next to the children of some of her childhood friends.
Suzanne was always very involved in her children’s activities. She would assist in their classrooms as a helper, and attend any field trip she possibly could. She would never miss a game or meet. She would always be as supportive as she possibly could in any hobbies or adventure they may have wanted to experience.
Suzanne often reminisced about the joy she had hosting gatherings in her home with her family and close friends. One of the most special events she hosted was the neighborhood annual Super Bowl party. So many great memories were made that will never be forgotten.
Suzanne was an amazing person, friend, daughter, sister and cousin, but most of all, the most amazing mother. Suzanne regularly gushed that having and raising her children was one of the most remarkable and rewarding feats she had ever accomplished in her entire life. Her children couldn’t agree more that she was the best mom!
We love you Mom, forever and always, all the way around the world and back again a million times!!!
A celebration of life for Suzanne will be held on the second floor of the Astoria Elks Lodge at 2 p.m. on May 25.
