“Snowzilla is back and bigger than ever!” Alaska’s News Source gleefully announced on Dec. 30. The almost 25-foot-high snowman in Anchorage has the classic look, with a carrot nose, custom-built top hat and stick arms.

He also has a throng of fans lining up along the street waiting their turn for a photo with the celebrity iceman. Some were returning fans who admired the last Snowzilla in 2008, and some were visitors from such far-flung locations as Arkansas, California and Canada.

Darrell Estes and some fellow neighbors started building this Snowzilla in November. Party-pooper officials from Anchorage forced the removal of the last Snowzilla for not having a permit. This time, however, the mayor’s office reassured the public that no permit is required. Snowzilla rules.
