Tuesday’s performance was a good one for the Astoria Fishermen as they won in straight sets, 25-16, 25-20, 25-13 over Banks High School. The Fishermen were particularly impressive in the third set as they closed the match winning 15 straight points. Grace Kindred won 14 straight points on her serve to put the visiting team away.

Astoria is 11-7 for the season, and the girls sit second behind Tillamook in league play with three games remaining. The Fishermen next compete in a tournament in Corbett on Saturday. Astoria’s Senior Night will be on Thursday night against Scappoose High School.

Warrenton remains hot

The Warrenton Warriors also won Tuesday night, with a three-set demolition of Riverdale High School. The Warriors won the first two sets 25-11, and then the third set 25-15. This was Warrenton’s fourth win in five matches. The girls are now 15-5 overall with a 8-2 record in league play. With three games left on the calendar, the 12th-ranked team in the 3A division will look to keep momentum going into the league playoffs.

Seaside and Knappa unable to keep pace

Unfortunately for other Clatsop County volleyball teams, they were unable to join Astoria and Warrenton in the win column. Seaside fell in four sets to Scappoose, 25-16, 25-27, 25-16, 25-22. Knappa fell in three sets to Gaston, 25-14, 25-21, 25-21.
