Local bodybuilder Jayme Toyas is officially the first athlete from Clatsop County to become a member of the International Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation.

Toyas earned that distinction recently after winning his division of the Men’s Classic Physique competition at the National Physique Committee North American Championships, Aug. 30 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Toyas finished first in the Class D over 35 division, and was one of 15 bodybuilders in Men’s Classic Physique to earn a pro card.

“Gaining your IFBB pro card means you are part of the elite,” Toyas said. “Getting to a professional level is tough — extremely tough.”

The International Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation Pro League is the professional league for bodybuilders. It is also the sanctioning body for the world’s largest professional contests, such as the Mr. Olympia, Arnold Sports Festival and Legion Sports Fest.
