Robert Leroy Boldt, 86, passed away on Aug. 9 in Dallas, Oregon.

Robert was born in Portland on Sept. 29, 1936, to Leroy and Eloise Boldt. He grew up in Astoria, where he lived until he was 18 years old, with a rich family history in the city. Bob’s father was the head man of Oregon State Highway Department all of his life, where he and his family made many friends and became lifelong members of the Methodist Church.

After graduating from high school, Robert received his undergraduate degree from Oregon State University, and later went on to graduate from the University of Oregon with his master’s degree. Bob settled in Salem, where he became a lifelong resident of 60 years.

Robert became a certified public accountant, and was a founding partner of Boldt, Carlisle & Smith LLC, where he dedicated over 30 years of his career until retirement.

Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Salem, where he met Rev. John Fleming and many others. He was a part of several fraternal organizations in his lifetime, starting with Kappa Sigma while at Oregon State. He then became a member of the Freemasons, eventually becoming a Shriner, where he has held membership since 1955.

Robert enjoyed traveling, hiking and hunting, eventually owning and operating a duck farm for hunting. Robert recently took a trip to Africa, where he was able to be involved in big-game hunting expeditions.

Robert is loved and survived by his wife, Geri Boldt; son, Michael Boldt, and his wife, Susan; daughter, Shelly Clemens, and her husband, Marcus; stepchildren, Tracy Davis, Tony Minden and Gina Pollman, and her husband, Dean; grandchildren, Elise Mahon, and her husband, Jake, Geoffery Boldt, and his fiancée, Lauren, Kathryn Schneider, and her husband, Matthew, Kieran McAdam, and his wife, Rachel, and Laci Clemens. Robert is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Marlo Mahon and Siobhan McAdam.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
