Astoria scores in “The Best Small Towns In Oregon To Chill Out,” from worldatlas.com, for its “thriving nautical past” and offering the chance to take in “the natural splendor of the Pacific Northwest.”

Astoria scores again as No. 1 in the “8 Of The Friendliest Towns In The Pacific Coast,” also according to worldatlas.com, even if it’s not technically on the coast.

Kudos go to the Astoria Riverwalk as a “scenic riverfront promenade,” and to the city for being “full of gorgeous nature, a lively arts scene and maritime history.” And, better yet: “Astoria is full of dopamine-inducing leisurely pleasures.” Indeed. (Photo: Elleda Wilson)
