Knappa’s Jaxon Dietrichs pitched a total of six innings in Monday’s game against Apollo High School.

The team that’s dominated Northwest League baseball for over a decade dominated the league again this year, as the Knappa Loggers cruised to another Northwest League championship and made the state playoffs for a 16th consecutive season.

And of course the Loggers dominated the postseason awards, placing all nine starters on the all-league squad.

Knappa junior Jaxon Dietrichs was named the league’s Player of the Year, while Coach of the Year honors went to Ryan Tompkins, of Clatskanie.

From 2013 to 2023, Knappa has a 159-4 record in league play. The Loggers finished 17-7 this season (14-1 in league), capped by a 1-0 loss to St. Paul in the state quarterfinals.

Dietrichs was also selected first team all-state, one of three pitchers on the first team. Knappa will be among the 2A/1A favorites next year, as eight of their nine all-league players return. State champion Kennedy graduates 12 seniors.
