With property tax season upon us, I heard the age-old adage, “You never own your home you just rent it from the county.” As true as this is, it becomes untenable for older longtime residents who often have very few options. With the jail unfinished, we now have a large addition with the Astoria Library bond measure.

Both worthy, but expensive. While in the tax office, a gentleman opined that a person’s home should be assessed on the value of the original purchase price of their home. Very interesting.
