An event offering the new bivalent booster vaccination against the coronavirus will take place from noon to 4 p.m on Friday at the Sunset Empire Park and Recreation District center in Seaside.

Both the Pfizer and Moderna versions of the booster — for people 12 and older, and 18 and older, respectively — will be on offer. The bivalent booster protects against the original strain of COVID-19 and the omicron variant.

The event is hosted by the Clatsop County Public Health Department, which is also seeking sign-ups for a booster event on Wednesday at the Clatsop County Fairgrounds.

An appointment is required for booster events. People can sign up on the county website.

They must bring their vaccination card to get the shot, and cannot have received their initial vaccination series within the last two months.
