Pfizer vaccine booster shots to help fight off the coronavirus will be available through the Clatsop County Public Health Department starting Oct. 4.
People who live in care homes; who are at least 65; who are between 50 and 64 and have health issues; or who are between 18 and 64, have health issues, and whose environments make them especially vulnerable to COVID-19 qualify for the booster.
Individuals are advised to wait six months or more after receiving their second dose to get the booster. Booster shots of the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are still being evaluated by health agencies.
People can make an appointment to get the booster at the Public Health Department’s Astoria office, or through a clinic or pharmacy. Proof of prior vaccination is required.
